Dental care in the United States is delivered mostly by private practices: a general or family dentist who handles exams, cleanings, fillings and crowns, and refers out anything that needs a specialist. Group practices and dental clinics put several dentists, hygienists and sometimes specialists under one roof, often with evening and Saturday hours. Most offices ask new patients for a comprehensive exam with X-rays before routine cleanings, which the American Dental Association recommends every six months. Prices are set by each practice, and most accept dental insurance (PPO plans more widely than HMO ones), CareCredit-style financing or an in-house membership plan for people without coverage. Emergency dental services take same-day patients for toothaches, broken teeth and abscesses, usually at a premium.

San Francisco is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Francisco is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Wow!! Dr Shahabiβs newest office is spectacular. The entire staff is upbeat and professional. As a newer office, all of their equipment is top notch. I joined their club and will receive a discount on future crowns and two cleanings annually for $365. I am super impressed.

My experience at Bliss Dental SF was extremely disappointing. When I was at the office, I asked how much a one-time cleaning would cost for a new patient. Instead of giving me a straightforward answer, they kept pushing their in-house membership, so I ended up buying it. During the exam, they told me I needed multiple fillings and that three of them were urgent. When I later asked whether those cavities had already reached the dentin, they replied that they had. It caused me a lot of unnecessary stress because I believed I needed treatment immediately. I decided to get a second opinion from another dentist. She told me that only one tooth had a very small cavity, while the rest were just very early enamel changes. Because Iβm 26, have excellent oral hygiene, and have never had a cavity before, she recommended simply monitoring the small cavity instead of filling it. She specifically told me that nothing was urgent and that I didnβt need any fillings at this time. I understand that dentists can have different opinions, but the difference between βthree urgent fillingsβ and βno fillings neededβ is impossible to ignore. Combined with the lack of pricing transparency, this experie

12 years since last visit. Gum disease symptoms captured my full attention on Memorial Day weekend. Reached out on Monday, June 1, 2026 at 9:30am. In the chair by 11am. Dr.Z and a team of professionals devoted hours to addressing my most pressing medical symptoms, educated me about every facet of the process, and most importantly, performed their duties with compassion. By 2pm, I was already feeling better. Just completed third appointment. More work to be done, but mouth is healthy again. Impressed and grateful. The staff does an excellent job managing the dissonance between the medical treatment their patients require and the treatment most dental insurance providers are willing to honor. The entire experience was brilliant.
